If you had one patch to tell a story, what story would you tell? Help us create a patchwork that captures the richness of our residents' stories and explores what Lewisham means to us all.

Mountsfield Park
I chose Mountsfield Park because it is my favourite place to go when I am sad. When I play, all the sadness goes away.

Variety is the spice of life
I grew up in suburbia. I have lived in the Borough of Lewisham for the past 43 years.
I love Lewisham because of it's diversity and that is why I chose to state that "VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE". Suburbia is dull in my opinion.
PS I am English and have ben married to my Turkish husband for 45 years.

The Lithuanian Flag
I made the Lithuanian flag because I love my Country and I miss it.
I came to Lewisham two years ago.

Ben Ten patch
I like this patch because it has a Ben Ten watch and I am going to the toy shop in Lewisham to buy a Ben Ten watch.

Lewisham Saves Lives - it saved mine
My name is Joseph Francis, born 11/04/1958. Been sick since 1976 with a condition called Relapsing Psyoycondictis. One sunny morning on my way working as a driving instructor, I felt unwell. I found that I couldn't breathe very well. I turned to my pupil and said I felt bad and by the time I said that I was virtually choking and gasping for breath. My pupil, called Donna, was very good. She was actually pregnant at the time. Jumped out of the car, after stopping that is, and hailed or should I say flagged down a car. Luckily it was an off duty policeman. I choked and passed out. The next thing I knew, I woke up in Lewisham A&E with needles and pipes hanging out of every orifice. So this was back in 2001. I owe my life to Lewisham and will never forget what they did for me.
Marvels Lane Craft and Sewing Group
These patches were created by Marvels Lane Craft and Sewing Group. MLCSG was started 3 years ago. Our group was started to encourage, teach and share talents and abilities with the community, teaching staff of Marvels Lane Primary School and parents as a whole. MLCSG has volunteers who teach and share abilities in sewing, knitting, crocheting and other crafts.
MLCSG welcome all on Fridays, term time between 1.30 pm and 3pm at the Marvels Lane Children's Centre. Entrance through the school reception. It is free to join.
A big thank you to Marvels Lane Primary School PTFA for starting the group.
Fight for the NHS
I have been involved in the Save Lewisham Hospital campaign for the past year and am proud to have been involved. This broad based non-political grouping has brought out the best in our community, uniting us in what has become a nationally recognised organisation. We took the Secretary of State for Health to court and won!
I think that is well worth celebrating but let's not forget, the law has now been changed and we have to fight on for the whole NHS. "The Lewisham Clause" has been entered into Hansard and the history books.
The Quaggy Quilter Group have produced this celebration of Lewisham's fight for our local Hospital.

Catford Women's Institute Patch
When I first moved to Catford I didn't know anyone in the local area so I joined the Catford Women's Institute and have now made lots of new friends.
My patch shows a black cat (representing the Catford Cat) and names the Women's Institute.

A keen defender of Lewisham
I wasn't born in Lewisham, nor southeast London, not even the UK, but as an immigrant I have lived and worked for 45 years in this area. My husband, also an immigrant, and I have had a good life, our children were born and educated here and they continue to live in southeast London. I think that Lewisham and southeast London get an unfair press - I am one of their keenest defenders.
Grove Park Knitting Club
I am a pensioner and go to Grove Park Library for Keep Fit on a Tuesday afternoon and the Knitting Club on a Saturday morning. I thought Keep Fit would be too hard to make a patchwork so I have knitted mine. We have a lovely group of ladies at the Knitting Club and do all sorts of things, including knitting hats for Innocent and Help the Aged and tiny clothes for premature babies. We sit and knit and drink tea or coffee and put the world to rights. I have lived in Grove Park for 45 years.

Heart, passion and desire
You can achieve anything
Just dream and aspire
Apply yourself to the situation.
It's up to young people to progress our nation.
This poem started for just me
Now I'm addressing Lewisham:
From doctors, to mums, to people wasting
just watch over your shoulder
I know you want someone to hold ya
Life gets harder as you get older
the pace gets faster, your legs get slower.
Make your woman's day - buy her some flowers
Slow dance and make love for hours
We all want to change the system but we don't have the powers
Don't go down like the towers
Stand tall forget being cool
Work hard like horse and carriage
Too many kids not enough marriage
I'm feeling embarassed when I get romantic like Paris
I used to believe in magic day by day
The world changes, I hope you manage.
